After a three week break it was back to the office for Barton United U16’s with an away trip to sunny Thame United for a late kick off. Following a good training session on Tuesday, proving that fitness was not an issue, it was a good opportunity to put in a good shift.

Kick off: From a rather wet centre spot, Barton began on the front foot attacking, the ball finding Sophie with some space of the left, a slight bit of hesitation from Thame allowing the ball to get kicked into the corner of the net. 0-1 to Barton (3mins30). With an early score on the board Barton had a period of attack with the ball coming into the box from the right and the left and centre with a few chances, but they were just unable to make that final bit of accurate connection. Some great runs through from the midfield kept the pressure on and Barton defence working hard to keep Thame at bay, the ball found Georgia who powered the ball into the net. 0-2 (7mins42) to Barton. The next period of the first half Barton became a little sluggish, struggling to find that 4 or 5th gear with difficulty seeing the ball against the sun, the wet ground and not using as much width and space of the pitch as normal. However, with some great play at times it was only going to improve.

Half Time: Thame United 0 – 2 Barton United

Second half: After a half time chat and reset and a bit of movement of positions Barton started straight on the attack, with more energy all round than the first half, the ball coming into the box from the wings and the centre again, chances abound, leading to a flurry of three goals for Georgia at two minutes apart!, 0-3 (45mins), 0-4 (47 mins), 0-5 (49mins). Barton now clearly back in command. Kimora made it 0-6 (52mins) and ten minutes later 0-7 (62mins). Barton now pushing onwards with Sophie making it 0-8 (66mins) and rounding off with a cracking shot into the top corner of the net to make it 0-9 (76mins).
