Barton Utd travelled away this morning to face Witney Vikings. We matched Witney who had 10 players, with no subs they certainly battled and worked hard against a strong Barton team.

Barton started off quickly and within the first 2 minutes Sophie put a great ball through the middle to Kimora with fantastic pace beat the defence and neatly put away the first goal.

A quiet 15 mins or so and not much talking on the pitch, Barton passed the ball around well, maintaining the majority of the possession in midfield meant not a lot to do for the defence initially.

Ella moved up from the right back onto the wing, extremely quick on the break down the right, from corner put the ball in which curved and hit the back of the net.

Keeping up the momentum Georgia won the ball from Witney, drove down the left wing storming through the midfield and defence, saw her opportunity and scored a fantastic goal, from edge of the box bottom corner.

Remaining in Whitney’s half Barton continued to apply the pressure, winning a corner taken by Kimora found Sophie who hit it bang on target which the keeper did a great job to save.

Some good football and passing the ball around, and out to the wing managed to find Georgia who again looked up and saw an opportunity with Witney keeper off her line, she hit it from outside the 18 yard box lobbing the keeper. 0-4

The back 4 did exceptionally well today, Izzy, Hope, Imogen, Chrissy and taking it in turns between midfield and back; Jennaya, Ella and Antonia helped to keep the ball away from our keeper and in Witney half.

Just moments before half time whistle, and a bit too relaxed, Witney caught us off guard on the break down the left hand side, a quick footed striker managed to score Witney’s first goal. Switching back on Barton quickly followed that up with another goal by Kimora this time from way out, going over the keepers head.

Second half saw Claudia out on pitch, Sophie taking over in goal. Did take Barton long to secure another goal, Kimora fantastic footwork taking the ball from half way, through the defence and calmly put away 1:1 with the keeper securing herself a hat trick.

Another break and another chance from Barton which was hit away by the keeper. Corner taken by Kimora finding Jennaya on the penalty spot hitting it first time on target, saved by the Witney keeper.

Team Captain Hope moved from CB up into the midfield, and quickly got herself on the score sheet.

Elsie in the midfield alongside Katie, battling hard against some strong Witney players managing to hold the ball and create some great opportunities.

Hope demonstrating lots of strength, taking on 4 of Witney defence and rocketing her second goal bottom left corner bringing Barton up to 8 goals.

Witney persevered and managed to put away 2 goals in quick succession which were well deserved.

Last few minutes remaining and Barton continued to keep the pressure up, switching the play over to the left saw Georgia perfectly positioned on her own with brilliant finish also securing herself a hat trick.
